MORGAN SPURLOCK TALKS OF ‘THIS IS US’ MOVIE: ONE DIRECTION “AREN’T BRATTY AT ALL”
Not long to go now!
One Direction’s blockbuster 3D movie ‘This Is Us’ is set for release later this month and we.cannot.wait.
Yes! It’s the most exciting event of our year so far and we just can’t sit still until we get to see it!
Director of the film, Morgan Spurlock, has spoke out about the movie and what One Direction are REALLY like behind the scenes.
He revealed that he’s a massive fan of the boys, saying: “They are a phenomenon,”
He added: “Right at this time now, their rocket is roaring through space. I’m just looking in through a window, and things have changed for them so quickly. In the last three years everything has transformed for them, and they’re still just teenagers.
“So to have a snapshot of that moment is an unique opportunity for any director. And it’s been incredible for me, never mind them.”
We reckon it sounds like Spurlock is just as excited about the launch of the movie as we are!
Spurlock also added how he wanted to go about the movie, producing a real life representation of the boys, and not just like any other concert movie.
He said: “I really wanted to do a film that didn’t feel like a piece of pop – some kind of puff piece for One Direction. I really wanted to get into their lives and stories in a way that wouldn’t feel like an advertorial for them.”
Morgan Spurlock is the man behind hit movie Super Size Me, and he talked about why One Direction themselves selected him to direct their movie: ”I think they liked my sense of humour,”
“And they genuinely wanted to offer fans something real about themselves.
We don’t know any celebrities that could be more real than One Direction. And it seems that Spurlock thinks the same, expressing how they “understand the gift they’ve been given”.
Spurlock declared that the film is completely unscripted, and that he has a good relationship with both the boys and Simon Cowell to produce an epic film.
“Simon [Cowell] and I are cool. He trusts me to do the job. And no, the band hasn’t asked for anything to be taken out. Yes, of course there’s a level of co-ordination, but we got to the point where they were comfortable having me in the room with them.
We learned how to trust each other, by just spending a lot of time with each other off screen.”
He also expresses how the film is not biased in any way, and presents a true reflection of One Direction with both positive and negative press.
The film shows every aspect of the boys’ lives on the road, as well as what their families go through, and just how dedicated their fans are.
Although they’re like the most famous people in the world right now, Spurlock can’t express enough just how down to earth and grateful they are for the life they have.
Spurlock said “they aren’t bratty at all” and “They’re incredibly grateful and very thankful for what they have.
And they really recognise that it’s the fans who’ve made them who they are, after being the runners up on X-Factor. They’re beautiful guys. I think I learned a lot just by being with them.”
